Morning Star Food Pantry
Morning Star Food Pantry Mission Statement:
The mission of Morning Star Food Pantry is to help fight hunger by distributing food to the elderly, single parents, people with illnesses or disabilities, low-income working families and all others that may need temporary or long-term assistance. In addition, we will provide companionship, education and training in life skills, moral support, guidance with application to government assisted programs and spiritual direction.
Note: the food pantry is open to all who are in financial need, without regard to religious affiliation. The pantry is open from noon to 3 p.m. on Thursdays. Please bring valid identification for all members of your household and verification of financial need.
This past year (2012) the food pantry fed 3,719 adults and 1,630 children for a total of 5,349 people plus approximately 25 peopl who needed emergency food in the beginning of November after Super Storm Sandy. In November and December we saw an increase in the number of peopl living in one household due to people losing their homes to the storm.
Approximately 50,147 pounds of food came into the pantry through the food bank – that’s not counting other food drives in the comminity which brought in more food.
If you are in need of food, Morning Star can help. Morning Star’s Food Pantry is open every Thursday from Noon – 3 pm. You are welcome to come once a month.
Beginning in May 2013, everyone who is already registered or is new to our pantry must provide documentation.
