Adult Sanctuary Choir:
Morning Star Isaac’s Singers
Oh come, let us sing to the lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving, let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
Isaac’s Singers: Most churches have a choir. Well, so do we, but the name we came up with is perhaps unique to Morning Star and to our personality. Some years back when the choral group was just getting going, one of the things we discovered was that it was a lot of fun. We often laughed until we cried. Both singing and laughing were good for the soul, we found out. So we decided to name ourselves “Laughter” (or in Hebrew: Isaac!). The back story for this name comes from Genesis where God promised Abraham and Sarah a son. They were old, and well past the time for childbearing. They laughed at the impossibility. So when God made their impossibility possible, they named their son Isaac. This name carried a double meaning for us, as we considered the value of laughter and as God began to show us our own impossibilities becoming possible! At the time we chose the name, our choir was all female and we called ourselves “Isaac’s Sisters.” Then the men entered the group and we became “Singers.”
Morning Star’s Adult Sanctuary Choir meets every Tuesday evening from 7pm to 9pm. We sing a variety of classical and contemporary choral music.
